BIBLICAL BASES:
Matthew 3:6And they were baptized by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins. Mark 1:4John baptized in the wilderness, and preached the baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. John 1:26 John answered them saying: I baptize with water; but among you is one whom you do not know.
MATTHEW 28:19''Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit" ROMAN CATECHISM 2,2,5 - ARTICLE 1 Sacrament of Baptism1239 Then follows the essential rite of the sacrament: Baptism itself, which signifies and accomplishes the death to sin and the entry into the life of the Holy Trinity through configuration with the paschal mystery of Christ. Baptism is performed in the most significant way through triple immersion in the baptismal water. But since ancient times it can also be conferred by pouring water three times on the candidate's head.
1240 In the Latin Church, this triple infusion is accompanied by the words of the minister: "I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." In the Eastern liturgies, with the catechumen facing the East, the priest says: "The servant of God is baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." And as he invokes each person of the Holy Trinity, he immerses them in the water and takes them out of it.
MATTHEW 28:19"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." In the Orthodox tradition, baptism includes three complete immersions (or immersions) in a baptismal font filled with ''holy'' water, each in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The triple immersion also symbolizes the death and rebirth of Christ. Baptism by pouring or sprinkling of water is only permitted as a rare exception.
MATTHEW 28:19''Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."
Acts 2:38Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 19:3-5Then he said, What then were you baptized? They said: At the baptism of John. Paul said: John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in him who would come after him, that is, in Jesus the Christ. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Romans 6:3 Or do you not know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Acts 8:16 For it had not yet come upon any of them, but they had only been baptized in the name of Jesus. Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Acts 2:41 So those who received his word were baptized; and about three thousand people were added that day. Acts 22:16 Now, why do you stop? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on his name.
Ephesians 4:1-6I therefore, a prisoner in the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all humility and meekness, patiently bearing with one another in love, eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace; one body, and one Spirit, as you were also called in the same hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in all.
Romans 6:4For we were buried with him through baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.
Colossians 2:12Buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the power of God who raised him from the dead.
1 Peter 3:21 The baptism corresponding to this now saves us (not by putting away the filth of the flesh, but as the aspiration of a good conscience toward God) through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
